Position Description

Title:                                 Ship/Rec/Whse Assistant

Department:                     Shipping & Receiving

Immediate Supervisor:    Warehouse Manager

Status:                             Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Purpose:           Receives and ships all goods within plant

 

Principle Accountabilities

  • Responsible to ensure the safe preparation of product for outbound shipment utilizing manual labor, and pallet jacks on a fre quent basis, and powered industrial trucks.
  • Receives product deliveries including inspecting quantity and quality of goods received and making decisions to accept or reject inbound shipments.
  • Ships products from plants, including examining shipment contents and compares against production reports and bills of lading .
  • Prepares of shipping and receiving documents accompanying shipments including packing lists, bills of lading, and all other r equired paperwork.
  • Operates a powered industrial truck to assist in loading products on to commercial vehicles as necessary.
  • Performs all work in a safety first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
  • Related tasks as requested by supervisor

 

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 1+ Years of Shipping or Receiving experience required.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, AS400, and other PC based programs required.
  • Intermediate math and critical thinking skills required.
  • English written communication skills necessary.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours at a time required
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a continuous basis
  • Ability to consistently lift arms and work within full range of arm motion.
  • Ability to safely operate
