Job Description:

The Senior Architect is responsible for both the design and engineering of all enterprise networks including all LAN/WAN and wireless and cloud networks. This role is to support the stable operation of the network as a business-based resource. This individual is also responsible for creating and maintaining enterprise standards and following established security industry standards. This seasoned professional is experienced in all aspects of networking and technology. Encompassing the full knowledge required within the technology and networking specialty area. Typically designs and develops approaches that are implemented by others. Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction. Provides technical and professional guidance and leadership to peers and other technical professionals

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for network system design and architecture including circuit strategy and management based on business requirements.
  • Designs, approves, and supports enterprise-wide repeatable architecture reference models.
  • Leads teams to establish network standards for hardware and software and maintains configuration templates including IP addressing and VLAN design to eliminate configuration errors and to streamline deployments
  • Governs and drives enterprise strategic initiatives that are driven by the business.
  • Leads enterprise based complex multidisciplinary teams to solve difficult issues.
  • Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails.
  • Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users and recommends and implements corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.
  • Serves as an expert in LAN/WAN, wireless, cloud, network security, data center, networks.
  • Recommends, schedules, and supports network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation as needed.
  • Provide recommendations for new products and technologies for supporting all layers of DTS infrastructure. 
  • Provides technical guidance, training and leadership to peers and other technical professionals.
  • Seeks and participates in educational opportunities to refresh/update and enhance skills and knowledge that pertain to job function.
  • Collaborates with Cyber teams to ensure network security and data integrity.
  • Performs network monitoring and data collection and analysis for troubleshooting utilizing tools like WireShark or NetScout.
  • Creating low-level, high-level designs, network migration plans and network implementation plans.
  • Knowledge and experience with the latest generation of networking technologies, e.g., Network Virtualization, and Software Defined Network (e.g. Cisco ACI, SD-Access, SD-WAN, and others)
  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Job Specific

  • Some afterhours, weekend & holidays may be required.
  • Travel will be required.
  • This role is a hybrid role.

Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/information management/engineering. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

    Four years experience in a network or technology architect and/or engineering related field.

Eight years of networking experience, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCIE) skill set.
  • Requires occasional travel to different facilities, using personal vehicle or reliable transportation
  • Requires the ability to be contacted while working remotely and the ability to respond/return calls quickly.
  • Network Load balancing skills (F5, Citrix)
  • Technical experience with switched and routed systems, ability to configure and implement.
  • Demonstrated expert technical knowledge of networks and connectivity.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of established security standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated expert technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex network issues and packet analysis.
  • Demonstrated in depth technical knowledge of LAN/WAN/Wireless networking.
  • Demonstrated strong analysis, problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Hands-on experience with network support tools such as NetScout, NetBrain, and SolarWinds.
  • Hands-on experience with Mapping and drawing tools such as Visio.
  • Expert hands-on experience with Cisco Router and Switch platforms.
  • Hands on experience with cloud and network architecture.
  • Demonstrated expert working knowledge of TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, and other networking protocols.
  • Demonstrated expertise with the following software: Router IOS, Microsoft, TFTP, NMS.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the OSI model and associated network service components Layer 1; Cabling Std, Interfaces, LAN/WAN Layer 2; Switching, Spanning Tree, VLAN, Trunking, EtherChannel, CAM Arp tables, MTUs, SLB, Wireless, WAN, LAN, VPN, Multicasting, CDP Layer 3; ACLs, TCP, UDP, ICMP, SNMP, Routing Protocols, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IP Addressing, VLSMs, HA, Public-vs-Private Addr Level on Layers 4-7; DHCP, DNS, CEF, HTTP, SSL, FTP, NTP, HSRP, TFTP, VRRP, TACACS Plus, Telnet, SSH, Traceroute, Syslog.

Preferred:

  • This is a collaboration & telecommunications specialist role.  They must have deep understanding of the following.
    • Cloud based collaboration & telecommunication systems.
    • Cloud based contact center systems.
    • Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model.
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI).
    • System integrations with things like Electronic Medical Records and other medical devices.
  • Masters Degree obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCDE) certification.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Knowledge of network security components, such as IDS, IPS, WAF, proxies
  • Knowledge of VoIP technologies
  • Cloud architecture , SaaS, PaaS solutions – Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services
  • Docker or container technologies, Kubernetes, AKS
  • Bamboo, Chef, Azure DevOps or industry proven CI/CD tool
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to verbally communicate, hear and understand spoken information, and identify volume, tone, and quality of telecom signals.
  • Support the weight of IT equipment while transporting it.  Push or pull portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Ascend and descend stairs or ladders to service IT equipment needs.
  • Move around on hands and knees.  Lower body by bending at the hips and the knees or to place body weight on one or both knees.
  • Raise or lower an object from one level to another.
  • Operate IT equipment, tools, and computers requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Transport oneself from place to place.  
  • This role will on occasion require night and weekend support including on-call rotations
  • A personal cellphone is required for on-call and communications.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$60.06 - $94.57
