Intermountain Health Saint Vincent Hospital is equipped with 2 Cath Labs, 1 Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, 1 Vascular Suite, and a Hybrid Operating Room, providing a comprehensive environment for advanced cardiovascular interventions. We perform approximately 350 procedures per month, spanning a diverse range of specialties:

  • Cardiac Procedures: Diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, including Impella support.

  • Electrophysiology: Complex arrhythmia ablations (SVT, atrial fibrillation, Aflutter), Farapulse technology, and Watchman device implantation.

  • Structural Heart Interventions: TAVR, Triclip, MitraClip, ASD, and PFO closures.

  • Vascular Procedures: Endovascular, peripheral interventions, EVAR, TAVAR, TEVAR.

Each of our laboratories is outfitted with Philips imaging systems and GE Mac-Lab hemodynamic monitoring systems, complemented by Acist contrast injection devices to optimize precision and efficiency. Our team is highly proficient in using cutting-edge technology, including Pnumbra, Shockwave, Rotablator, Volcano systems, IVUS, Boston Scientific devices, Impella, balloon pumps, and 3D ICE technology.

Beyond our technical expertise, we foster a collaborative and respectful environment that brings together Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Cardiac Surgeons, ensuring interdisciplinary excellence. Our procedures are carried out by highly skilled three-person teams, composed of registered nurses and invasive technologists, with documentation managed via Epic and Mac-Lab systems. Additionally, we employ a balanced approach to sedation, combining RN-led conscious sedation and anesthesia when appropriate.

As a Limited Scope Radiographer Cath Lab at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

Essential Functions

  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Is sensitive to the patients' needs throughout the procedure.
  • Sufficiently explains to the patient and family the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety.
  • Addresses any patient concerns.
  • Performs radiologic exams that produce quality images and ensures patient and staff safety.
  • Accomplishes this by following proper protocols, correct patient positioning, appropriate and effective use of equipment, and adherence to radiation protection and guidelines
  • Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds quickly and appropriately.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
  • Coordinates patient care and communicate pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedure.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Pursues individual education and career development opportunities, emphasizing those for new procedures and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications Limited Scope

  • Licensure as a Practical Radiologic Technologist/Limited Scope Operator in state of practice or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Board Registry Eligible per state requirements. 
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Competency in at least one of the following areas: Chest, Extremities, Spine, Skull, Podiatry, Bone Densitometry (DEXA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in an ambulatory outpatient clinic environment

Job Description
 

As an Imaging Assistant you need to know how to:

  • Contribute to the safety and comfort of patients, explains the procedures, and comforts the patients throughout the procedure. Prepares patients for procedures including changing patients into gown, checking for allergies, obtaining vitals, explaining paperwork and the procedure, and transporting patient to appropriate exam room.
  • Facilitates patient workflows by assisting technologies as needed to include contact and schedule patients. Monitors workflow in procedure room, communicates delays to the patients, families and physicians.
  • Assists during procedures including biopsy procedures, transports specimens to pathology, and maintains adequate inventory by ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
  • Communicates with nursing units, ED, and physicians office regarding orders.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety standards, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of the imaging principals. Is aware of radiation safety requirements and reports areas of concern immediately to proper area for resolution.
  • Maintains cleanliness of rooms and equipment to maintain work environment.

Minimum Requirements Radiology Tech Assistant ($18.29 - 22.99/hr)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of clinical and computer experience in medical setting

  • EMT license or Phlebotomist Certification or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification

  •  Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
