About this role

TITLE: Level 1 Machine Operator

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Production operators work on production lines to perform tasks related to manufacturing, packaging, and storing products. They operate and maintain machinery and equipment and may also supervise the production process and ensure product quality. 

Hiring for 4pm to 12am and 12am to 8am shifts

Starting at $15.00 per hr. – earn $2.00 more per hour on 4p to 12am and $3.00 more per hour on 12a to 8am with perfect weekly attendance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Experience – Prefer previous work experience with machines in a manufacturing setting.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform proper quality bag checks
  • Read production sheets and make adjustments as necessary on assigned lines.
  • Make boxes if required, finish in a timely manner and keep the production line properly supplied.
  • Keep color meters filled with proper material and empties color meter properly when changing colors.
  • Uses quality stamp properly and consistently
  • Stacks finished goods properly on pallets, places proper protective wrapping for storage and completes pallet tags
  • Recording finished goods produced
  • Ability to read production schedule.
  • Maintains assigned work area and keeps it clean and orderly.
  • Follows company safety guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Uses the correct tools for the job i.e. safety knife/protective gloves
  • Shutting down machinery when necessary
  • Wear all the required personal protective equipment; safety shoes, glasses and hearing protection.
  • Maintains good attendance to work
  • Assists co-workers when needed

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to work in an environment that is extremely hot, humid in the summer months, and cold in the winter months.

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hands together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, lift, manipulate or assemble objects. (many duties require hand over hand movement) (frequently)
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands.
  • Must be able to see in low light conditions, hear, and speak clearly. 
  • Ability to stand and change positions frequently over an eight-hour period.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. (Lifting requirements up to and including 50 lbs.) (frequently) Must be able to balance rolls of plastic up to 300 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and or legs. Must be able to reach and lift up to 50 lbs. above shoulders (frequently) reaching above head (occasionally), stooping (occasionally), twisting (occasionally), and bending at waist (occasionally).
  • Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly or continuously to lift objects.  (frequently)
  • Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
