About this role

TITLE:  CAD Technician A

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Design and produce CAD drawings for the use of making tooling for Converting equipment.  To continually communicate with management, lead operators, and operators to produce or modify cutting dies in ways that increase converting production efficiency. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good oral, written, and organizational skills, and strong work ethic.
  • Minimum amount of mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • Full understanding of CAD with five (5) years (minimum) experience.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with computer CAD programs used to manufacture tooling for Converting.
  • Communicate with management, lead operators, and operators about performance of tooling.
  • Continue to seek ways to improve tooling for more efficient production in converting.
  • Learn to Operate Easy Bender SDS for die rule process.
  • Learn to convert CAD files over to files for sample table and die making equipment.
  • Learn to operate the laser and router die making equipment
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
  • Assigning die numbers to the tooling.
  • Work with sales and marketing to develop CAD drawings for customer approval.
  • Complete any other job duties as assigned by Superiors.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Plant and office environment.

 

TRAINING:

  • On-the-job training in Converting with shift supervisor as well as training from senior or plant management.
  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (OSHA)
  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (Safety)
  • ISO Awareness – The Basics

 

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:

  • Data entry into the AS400 mainframe system.
  • Maintain and monitor cutting dies in the AS400.

 

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

  • Daily PPE i.e. Steel toe shoes, Gloves, glasses and hearing protection (when needed)
  • Computer
  • Printer
  • Utility knife
  • Tape measure

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.  Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.  Example:  Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.  Example:  Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.  Example:  Making copies, giving presentations, directing traffic.
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Degree of Lifting:  5-25 lbs., 26-50 lbs.              
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction.  Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.  Example:  Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.

 

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Must be able to read fine/small printed and hand written numbers.  Must have a above average or corrected visual acuity.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception are often necessary for clerical and technical positions.
  • For this role, visual activity will require performing computer work for long periods, where the job is close to the eyes.
  • Specific visual abilities may also be required for tasks involving extensive reading and analysis of data.
