TITLE: Electric Technician A

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Support Electrical Supervisor/Sr. 2 to maintain equipment/facilities.                                            

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum four years previous experience in a manufacturing maintenance department.
  • Minimum four years’ previous electrical maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or (Electrical and Electronic) schematics.
  • Knowledge of instrument calibration is desirable.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all written and verbal safety rules using personal protective equipment as required by department and plant safety programs.
  • Follows oral and written instruction of higher management.
  • Work efficiently with other employees to meet plant and department goals in safety, quality, production and housekeeping.
  • Works and cooperates with other departments within the plant.
  • Identify and correct, in a timely manner; electrical problems in all areas of the plant, including production equipment, material handling equipment, etc.
  • Provide timely preventative maintenance support coordinating with production personnel. 
  • Maintain and complete all necessary forms, files and paperwork associated with the PM and work order programs.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in assigned and work areas.
  • Comply with all general plant rules on conduct and attendance.
  • Essential to be available for overtime, call-ins and rotating schedules. 
  • Identify and understand the function of the equipment. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment i.e., extrusion lines, raw material supply, die cutter, and reclaim machinery. 
  • Able to disassemble equipment, make necessary repairs, and restore it to normal operations.
  • Troubleshoot DC and AC drive systems.
  • Running Conduit.
  • Oversees “B” Electrical Technician work.
  • Willing to learn and upgrade skill level.
  • Ability to wire and replace motors.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Learn and keep Profile’s recycling program going.
  • Always keep all Profile products clean and dirt free.
  • Complete any other task assigned by superiors.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace. 

TRAINING:

  • On the job training from above grade levels.
  • ISO Awareness – The Basics
  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (OSHA, Safety)
  • Forklift certification.
  • Manlift certification.

 

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:

  • Oversee/Train “B” Electrical Technician Work
  • Practice and teach safe work ethics.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.  Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example:  Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example:  Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example:  Making copies, giving presentations, directing traffic.
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. (5 lbs. to 50 lbs.)
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction.  Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Example:  Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Visual acuity: Clear vision at various distances, allowing the operator to see pallets, obstacles, and other workers clearly. 
  • Depth perception: The ability to judge distances accurately, essential for maneuvering the forklift close to objects and aligning the forks with pallets. 
  • Peripheral vision: A wide field of view to detect movement on the sides and behind the forklift. 
  • Color vision: Ability to distinguish colors for safety signage and potential hazards. 
  • Pre-shift inspection: Forklift operators should always perform a visual inspection of the forklift before operating it, checking for any damage, fluid leaks, or tire issues. 
  • Mirrors and cameras: Utilizing additional mirrors and cameras can help improve visibility in blind spots.
