Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

What you'll do here:

• Assess, evaluate and negotiate on small to moderate risks.

• Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions.

• Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with the company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.

• Achieve productivity targets and maintain service standards in a fast paced environment.

• Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members.

• Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.

• Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities.

• Participate in broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events where required.

What you bring to the table:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an underwriter or underwriter assistant capacity

• Candidates with prior Commercial Lines P&C experience will be prioritized

• Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset.

• Strong sales and customer service skills.

• Strong negotiating skills and business savvy.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Initiative and ability to problem solve and work under pressure.

• Awareness of market conditions and understanding of insurance principals.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer tools.

• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
