Position Overview
Insulet Corporation, maker of the OmniPod, is the leader in tubeless insulin pump. The AI Engineer role is responsible to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI applications. This role focuses on Large Language Models (LLMs), API-driven architectures, and AI-powered local applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing AI solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and deploy AI applications leveraging LLMs and generative AI frameworks for real-world use cases.
· Design and implement APIs for AI services, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
· Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and integrate external knowledge bases for context-aware AI solutions.
· Optimize and fine-tune LLMs for domain-specific tasks, including prompt engineering and model evaluation.
· Implement AI inference pipelines for on-premise and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
· Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI features into local and enterprise applications.
· Monitor and improve model performance, latency, and reliability in production environments.
· Stay current with emerging AI technologies and recommend best practices for adoption.
· Clearly communicate findings and technical details to a broad audience, aligning with business objectives.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field.
· At least 2 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with hands-on experience in Machine Learning, LLMs and generative AI.
· Strong programming skills in Python and experience with frameworks like LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers, or OpenAI API.
· Proven experience in API development (REST, GraphQL, FASTAPI) and microservices architecture.
· Familiarity with vector databases for RAG implementations.
· Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Skills/Competencies
· Knowledge of prompt engineering and fine-tuning techniques for LLMs.
· Experience with cloud-based tools and AI deployment pipelines.
· Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance in AI systems.
· Ability to work independently without detailed guidance, while maintaining effective communication with leaders and stakeholders.
· Ability to communicate effectively and document objectives and procedures.
