About this role
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Non-licensed staff member who, under the direction of a registered nurse, provides physical care and emotional support to patients, while maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. In addition, responsible for the clerical and communication functions as needed.
QUALIFICATION:
Education & Experience:
- High School graduate or G.E.D. required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1-2 years previous experience in inpatient behavioral health setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- CPR (American Heart Association) required.
- CPI required must be obtained within introductory period.
- Psychiatric Technician preferred.

- The technician provides physical care and emotional support to patients under the direction of a registered nurse. They also maintain a safe and therapeutic environment while handling clerical and communication tasks as needed.
