Inova is seeking a Radiation Therapist of all levels to join this dynamic team. We have openings for full-time, part-time and PRN working 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday day shift. Radiation Therapist 1 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree required, preferred in radiation therapy 
  • Experience: Completion of Radiation program preferred
  • Certifications:
    • American Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiation or registry eligible within one year of employment 
    • Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.

Radiation Therapist 2 Minimum Qualifications::

  • Work Schedule: Full-time Day Shift: Monday to Friday Education: Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or Certification.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience as a Staff Radiation Therapy department with experience in linear accelerators and patient simulation
  • Certifications:
    • American Registered Radiologic Technologist required upon start.   
    • Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
  • License: VA License required at PROC (Woodbridge)

Radiation Therapist Job Responsibilities:

  • The Radiation Therapist communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors, and outside contacts. 
  • Responsible for treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set-up and administer treatments on a daily basis. 
  • Verifies the proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators and Computed Tomography machines. 
  • Positions patients for initial treatment and verifies set-up per prescriptions; Verifies beam parameters, ancillary aids and blocking via record and verification systems on machine and patients' computerized treatment plans before initiation of radiation beam; Detects unsatisfactory set-up and/or errors in addition to resolving or reporting such errors to physicians.
  • Acts as a Liaison between physicians and machine staff by utilizing technical expertise for all difficult/complex treatments on various machines.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
