About this role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical, Piping & Layout Engineer to act as an internal expert for multidisciplinary project teams within our Power Plant Engineering Department. This role will focus on the mechanical and piping engineering aspects of Jenbacher gas engine-based turn-key power plants and complex energy projects, including CHP installations, biogas/biomethane plants, hydrogen applications, microgrids, district heating, and hybrid energy systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in piping and layout engineering for power generation applications, strong cross-disciplinary coordination skills, and expertise in pipe stress calculations using Rohr2.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Act as internal expert for mechanical, piping, and layout engineering in multidisciplinary power plant projects, supporting various teams and sales processes
  • Develop and improve standards, workflows, and documentation for Jenbacher installations; ensure optimal mechanical and piping design and integration with plant components
  • Perform pipe stress calculations using Rohr2, support concept engineering, project structuring, and layout development, and coordinate across mechanical, civil, E&IC, and other disciplines
  • Guide and train the mechanical and piping engineering group, drive continuous improvement, and support resource planning
  • Oversee basic and detailed engineering, 3D layout and isometric generation, compliance with standards (EN, ASME, PED, ISO), and conduct risk analyses and technical assessments
  • Support procurement, site supervision, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities, and provide technical solutions for complex integration challenges in hybrid power systems

Your Profile:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Dipl.-Ing., MSc, or equivalent) with 15+ years’ experience in mechanical, piping, and layout engineering for industrial or power plant projects
  • Proven expertise in piping design, layout development, plant construction, and pipe stress analysis using Rohr2
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors, with strong knowledge of standards and regulations (EN, ASME, PED, ISO, local codes)
  • Proficient in 3D design tools (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, Navisworks), contract management, claims, and quality systems
  • Fluent in German and English (business level), with strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented approach; able to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Project management certification is an advantage; willingness to travel up to 30%
