Position Overview:
The Global Category Leader - Indirect is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing global sourcing strategies for assigned indirect categories and suppliers, with a strong focus on CAPEX management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement. This role oversees supplier selection, supplier management and development, contract negotiations, and ensures excellent purchasing operations for indirect spend. The position drives continuous improvement initiatives in transformation, processes, quality, cost effectiveness, and internal coordination/communication, acting as a key change agent across INNIO. Delivering measurable value and optimizing 3rd party costs for indirect categories is the ultimate goal of this role.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute INNIO sourcing strategies for assigned indirect categories and suppliers
  • Lead CAPEX management for indirect spend, ensuring optimal investment and cost control
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness across indirect procurement
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with key stakeholders across functions and regions to ensure alignment and buy-in for sourcing strategies and initiatives
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations to achieve company goals in on-time delivery, quality, and cost savings
  • Lead supplier segmentation, selection, and development, ensuring high-quality supplier relationships and operational management
  • Understand and ensure compliance with business requirements, minimizing supply chain risks for indirect categories
  • Negotiate long-term agreements with suppliers that align with business strategy and requirements
  • Collaborate proactively with business sourcing leaders and functional owners to ensure buy-in and optimized internal coordination
  • Facilitate innovation and collaboration between supply base and INNIO businesses
  • Develop and execute recovery plans for suppliers that fall short of expectations
  • Own, drive, and report progress/bottlenecks on Value Creation Plan (VCP) initiatives for indirect categories.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 8+ years working experience in strategic sourcing within a global organization; comparable industry experience preferred. 
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations or Engineering from an accredited school or equivalent work experience. 
  • Proven experience in CAPEX management and process improvement for indirect categories.
  • Experience with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) warehouse management.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and align with stakeholders at all levels across the organization.
  • Project management and strategy development experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude, business acumen, influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Oracle ERP experience is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels.
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to improve internal customer relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial, motivated mindset with demonstrated ownership of responsibilities.
  • Team player mentality and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to our regional supply base and INNIO locations.
