Job DetailsJob Location: McDonough, GA 30253Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: Technical Job Summary The Setup Mechanic sets up, troubleshoots, and performs preventative maintenance on contact heat and preheat thermoforming machines and support equipment, including, but not limited to case tapes, Big Joe Lifts, and Yushin stackers.  The Setup Mechanic may be required to operate machinery when needed. Essential Job Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties/functions may be added or assigned. Operations Installs tooling and performs set-ups, as well as corrective and preventative maintenance on thermoforming machines and auxiliary equipment, such as grinders, vacuum pumps, motors, gear boxes, and hoists. Conducts mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting. Performs root cause analysis to identify causes of defects and troubleshoots problems. Identifies, retrieves, and replaces machine components from the stockroom; creates and fulfills orders via a cloud-based parts management system. Escalates issues to a set up technician (recognizing source and scope of problems and communication). Must maintain regular and consistent attendance. Additional duties as assigned. Safety Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements. Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. Attend scheduled EHS trainings. Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment. Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures. Product Safety and Quality Follows FDA GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee. Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning. Follows product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards, and complies with all SQF requirements. Qualifications Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.) The list below represents the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). Vocational technical community college, or formal military mechanical and/or technical training a plus. Previous mechanical or electrical experience preferred. Thermoforming, extrusion machinery, or packaging equipment highly desired. Able to read and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram forms. Ability to troubleshoot problems. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate decimals and fractions. Ability to understand and use the metric system. Ability to use calipers, tape measure, protractors, pressure gauges, temperature thermocouples. Ability to use cloud-based parts management system (NexGen) to create and execute work orders.
