The Tech Netherlands organization consists of more than 2.000 talented engineers, who are working together over various locations (Netherlands, Romania, India, Philippines) to deliver and own best in class services and applications for our customers. Each product or capability is led by an IT Area Lead, of which REF & ComFin is one.

REF & ComFin
Within REF & ComFin, both part of business banking Netherlands we offer corporate clients digital services to run their business effectively and to invest in Real Estate Finance. Our aim is to provide this service offering through our Digital Channels, and with ability for consumption where possible by other ING Business Banking entities/ countries. Today the collaboration exists between Netherlands, Belgium and Poland for ComFin. Furthermore transformation programs are initiated to modernize (ComFin) and to consolidate the full Private Banking real estate portfolio in 1 digital product with digital services.

Roles and Responsibilities
As successful IT Area Lead, you:

• Lead the design and delivery of our digital customer journeys, combining commercial off-the-shelf solutions and in-house developed microservices for cross-country consumption. You assure the needed Tech vision and productization.
• Drive change and continuous improvement, fostering a high-performance culture within your team.
• Manage an international team with full delivery responsibility, including vendor management and IT custodianship.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, actively listen, and find solutions that balance technical excellence with business needs.
• Communicate with clarity and confidence, bringing a strong point of view while remaining open to constructive dialogue.

This role requires emphasis on the following:

• Education: BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on engineering skills, primarily in Java, Pega, and the ability to understand complex technical architectures, COTS platforms, and vendor collaboration.
• Real Estate Finance, Financing and COTS/ vendor management  experience is a strong prerequisite.
• Leadership Experience: Previous experience as an IT Area Lead or equivalent, with responsibility for delivery and team performance, cybersecurity is a must.
• Communication Skills: Ability to articulate ideas clearly, influence decisions, and lead discussions with conviction.
