We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and operate from two locations: Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
Our tech capabilities remain the core of our business, with more than 1800 colleagues active in Data and Analytics Tech, Tech Foundation and Channels, Retail Core Banking and Architecture, and Global Products and Technology Services.

The Mission
As an EBICS Engineer you look after the availability, reliability of the EBICS supporting applications. The impact of what you are responsible for is huge. The squad operates partially vendor-based software (Axway) and partially own developed (Python/Java) applications.

As an EBICS Engineer you look after the availability, reliability of the EBICS supporting applications. The impact of what you are responsible for is huge. The field evolves fast and staying up-to-date and exercising technical leadership to help the organization stay at the forefront is of paramount importance.
The squad operates partially vendor based software (Axway) and partially own developed (Python/Java) applications.
Your Day-to-Day
- You will design, code and maintain secure electronic banking channels using the EBICS protocol (Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard);
- Lead technical upgrades of Axway components;
- Managing the secure, direct, and automated data transfer channel between a corporate client’s ERP system and the bank;
- Partner with Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical specifications;
- Participate in the full SDLC for software written with Java, Bash, Python, GO, SQL, RESTful web services and involved in architectural decisions;
- Pipeline as a code with YAML (involving different tools used internally: ansible, azure devops, github);
- Various technologies including, but not limited to Ansible, Python, RHEL, Kibana, Oracle database, Azure DevOps tools, OpenShift/Docker, Axway products, proxy and load balancers configuration and maintenance.
What you bring to the team
- Knowledge of cryptography (e.g. PKI, RSA, SHA, DES, AES);
- Solid experience with Linux (RHEL 8/9 preferred) and scripting tools;
- Backend development skills (Python and shell scripting - good experience; Java/GoLang);
- Strong understanding of API architecture, databases;
- Docker/Kubernetes for containerised deployments;
- Basic understanding of EBICS protocol and payments standards MT94X, ISO (example: ISO 20022, SWIFT Axway implementation) (nice to have);
- Experience with fintech solution (nice to have);
- Familiar with XML and data transformation, PESSIT transfer protocol (CFT implementation);
- Able to discuss incidents, changes with external Vendors;
- Understanding of audit logging, monitoring, and fraud prevention measures;
- Experience with modern CI/CD tools, Ansible (or other automation configuration tool);
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Finance degree;
- A desire to learn new technologies and evolve with an ever changing industry;
- Accurate in documenting and following procedures ;
- Familiar with Testing frameworks (Behave or similar) is nice to have.
