EHS Specialist – Forsyth County, GA

Job Summary

The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture across facilities located in Forsyth County, Georgia. This role provides leadership, training, and technical expertise to minimize risk and promote continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Lead safety training programs, including classroom and field sessions, and provide ongoing coaching to employees.
  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; recommend corrective actions and monitor implementation.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports; track and analyze trends to drive preventive measures.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, permit applications, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Maintain accurate records in EHS management systems, including Learning Management and Incident Management platforms.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to integrate safety into daily activities and strategic planning.
  • Support workers’ compensation and insurance programs, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incident rates and enhance overall safety performance.

Qualifications

·       Associate’s degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience.

·       Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with company policy and insurance requirements.

 

·       Professional certifications such as OSHA 500/501, CPR/First Aid Instructor, or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are preferred.

·       Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management software.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for training and meetings.
  • Ability to analyze incident data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on compliance and operational needs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in and around confined spaces, tight clearances, and on uneven or variable terrain.
  • Ability to climb, descend, and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and steel or structural frameworks.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods as required by job duties.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended or non-standard hours, including evenings or weekends, as operational needs require.
