Position Summary
The House Manager / Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a group home or supervised apartment serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position ensures compliance with Montana Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) and Medicaid regulations, supervises direct care staff, and maintains a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment for all residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the residence in accordance with Montana DDP and Medicaid guidelines.
- Supervise, schedule, and support direct care staff (e.g., Residential Counselors, Direct Support Professionals) to ensure high-quality, person-centered service delivery.
- Ensure implementation of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
- Monitor residents’ health, safety, and well-being; coordinate medical appointments, medication administration, and emergency responses.
- Maintain accurate records, including staff schedules, resident documentation, incident reports, and medication logs, as required by Montana DDP.
- Conduct regular home inspections to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for staff in accordance with Montana DDP requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between residents, families, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Attend team meetings, participate in quality assurance activities, and pursue professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- At least two years of supervisory experience in residential or human services settings preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Montana driver’s license (if transporting residents).
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- Completion of all Montana DDP-mandated training prior to providing unsupervised services.
Physical and Other Job Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Ability to pass Montana DDP-required criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
- Reliable transportation.

- Reports to: Program Director, Residential Services Director, or Area Manager (depending on organizational structure).
- Direct reports: Residential Counselors, Direct Support Professionals, and other group home staff.
