Position Summary
The Med Tech / Caregiver is responsible for providing direct care and support to residents in a group home setting in Abington, PA, with a primary focus on medication administration, health monitoring, and assistance with activities of daily living. This role ensures the safety, well-being, and dignity of residents while maintaining compliance with all applicable Pennsylvania state regulations and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents according to physician orders, Pennsylvania regulations, and organizational protocols.
- Document medication administration and report any medication errors or adverse reactions promptly.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Monitor residents’ health status and report changes or concerns to the House Manager or appropriate medical personnel.
- Support residents in meal preparation, feeding, and dietary needs as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, resident observations, and incidents.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to residents.
- Participate in resident care planning and team meetings as needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols.
- Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations, and organizational policies.
- Attend required training sessions and maintain certifications as required by Pennsylvania and organizational standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a caregiver, med tech, or in a similar role preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a group home setting is a plus.
Certifications and Licenses
- Medication administration certification (as required by Pennsylvania state regulations; may be obtained after hire).
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license (if transporting residents).
Physical and Other Job Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Ability to pass required Pennsylvania criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
- Reliable transportation.
