Position Summary
The Live-In Caregiver / Med Tech provides direct care, medication administration, and daily support to residents in a group home setting. This position requires the caregiver to reside in the home, ensuring continuous supervision, safety, and well-being of residents in accordance with Pennsylvania state regulations and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reside in the group home and provide 24-hour supervision and support as scheduled.
- Administer medications to residents per physician orders and Pennsylvania regulations.
- Document medication administration and promptly report any medication errors or adverse reactions.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and dietary needs.
- Monitor residents’ health status and report changes or concerns to the House Manager or medical personnel.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care, observations, and incidents.
- Perform housekeeping and laundry duties to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to residents.
- Participate in resident care planning and team meetings as needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols.
- Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA and Pennsylvania state policies.
- Attend required training sessions and maintain certifications as required by state and organizational standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a caregiver, med tech, or in a similar live-in role preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a group home setting is a plus.
Certifications and Licenses
- Medication administration certification (as required by Pennsylvania regulations; may be obtained after hire).
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- Valid driver’s license (if transporting residents).
Physical and Other Job Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Ability to pass Pennsylvania-required criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
- Reliable transportation.
