IEM Canada is seeking experienced and hard-working individuals to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician.  


 


Position Summary:


This role is responsible for the assembly of metal-based modular work bench/material storage systems for use on the manufacturing floor work centers. This position shall work closely with staff from operations, continuous improvement, quality & process engineering teams to deliver required work bench/material storage systems as defined.  This position will report to the Engineering Tech Supervisor.


 


 Responsibilities:



  • Read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other instructions or procedures to accurately assemble metal-based modular work bench/material storage system equipment.

  • Use multiple measuring devices such as scales, feeler gauges, rulers, micrometers, calipers tee square, machinist square and tape measure to accurately and precisely perform work.

  • Mount electrical components including lights, switches, motors, relays, contactors, terminals, Input/Output devices as required for desired work bench operation.

  • Drilling, tapping, punching, mounting and installing modular components per drawings or instructions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and process changes.

  • Collaborate in workbench/material replenishment system design development/re-design/modifications) to help meet desired requirements.

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall production outcomes.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing principles and other improvement methodologies.

  • Comply with all safety, quality and work rules, guidelines and regulations.

  • The candidate will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization (training provided)


 


Qualified candidates must possess:



  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in electronics, electromechanics, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably in electrical or industrial equipment.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems, components, and demonstrate proficiency using hand tools, and power tools.

  • Ability to interpret assembly drawings, electrical schematics and work independently

  • Mechanical aptitude (Ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality)

  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn

  • Must be a team player

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to safety standards and procedures.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%

  • Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.

  • Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.


 


--> Mental Demands: Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


 


--> Environment: Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
