Overview
We are seeking Report Writers to support a business reporting initiative. This role is focused on primary report and dashboard development using Spotfire and Tableau. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to translate business requirements into clear, accurate, and performant dashboards and reporting outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Spotfire and Tableau based on defined business requirements.
- Partner with business stakeholders/SMEs to clarify requirements, KPIs, filters, drill-downs, and usability needs.
- Validate data accuracy and reconcile results using existing datasets (e.g., DW sources and/or curated Databricks outputs).
- Create calculated fields/measures, hierarchies, parameters, and visual interactions needed for reporting.
- Optimize report performance (efficient calculations, appropriate filtering, and layout best practices).
- Support UAT and stakeholder reviews; iterate quickly based on feedback.
- Document report logic, KPI definitions, data source references, refresh cadence (if applicable), and basic user guidance.
- Proven experience developing reports/dashboards in Spotfire and Tableau (both required).
- Strong understanding of reporting best practices: KPI definition, usability, visualization principles, and consistency.
- Ability to write and interpret SQL for report validation and troubleshooting (read/query level).
- Experience working with data consumption layers (DW tables/views, curated datasets).
- Strong communication skills and ability to convert business questions into reporting deliverables.
- Detail-oriented with strong QA discipline for metrics, filters, and edge cases.
