District Sales Manager – Germany (West)

Location: Remote

The Role

As District Sales Manager here at Illumina in Germany, you will lead and inspire a high-performing sales team across your district. This is a strategic leadership role where you will drive growth, ensure operational excellence, and foster strong customer relationships in one of Europe’s most dynamic Life Sciences markets.

You will collaborate closely with Marketing, Customer Solutions, and other internal teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve ambitious sales targets. Your leadership will directly contribute to Illumina’s mission of improving human health by unlocking the power of the genome.

Why You

You are an experienced leader in the Life Sciences industry with a proven track record in sales and team management. You thrive in a structured yet innovative environment and understand the importance of compliance with German employment regulations.

You excel at building relationships at senior levels and influencing internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - are essential, and fluency in German and English is required.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is essential; an advanced degree is highly desirable.

You bring substantial years of direct experience, including management responsibilities, and you are motivated by delivering results while developing your team.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Strategic Leadership and Planning
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the district business plan to achieve assigned budgets and objectives.
  • Establish territory quotas and deliver quarterly and annual sales and profit targets.
  • Team Development and Performance
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing district sales team.
  • Motivate and guide the team to meet agreed targets, providing timely development plans for underperformance.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance using Illumina’s performance management tools.
  • Customer Focus and Collaboration
  • Ensure Illumina’s commitment to customer satisfaction is delivered and continuously improved.
  • Maintain strong liaison with Marketing, Customer Solutions, and local teams to align activities and goals.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Forecast, monitor, and control selling expenses within assigned budgets.
  • Accurately forecast customer demand and ensure Salesforce.com (SFDC) compliance across the team.
  • Coordinate technical, sales, and administrative training for the district sales team.
