POSITION SUMMARY: 

Simco-Ion Technology Group a division of ITW is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to join our engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, testing, and product development within a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a student entering their junior or senior year, majoring in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a strong interest in applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems.

· Support engineering team in developing CAD, and Solid Works models, drawings, and documentation.

· Participate in prototype assembly and performance evaluations.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and product improvements.

· Conduct research on materials, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices.

· Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Entering junior or senior year by Summer 2026 with a 3.0+ GPA

Experience Skill:

  • Familiarity with CAD software specifically Solid Works Required, with PDM add on experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to talk, hear, twist/turn, reach outward, handle/manipulate and grasp objects, stand, walk, and bend. Employees will frequently reach above shoulders and occasionally climb or squat. The employee must carry up to 50 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally and push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus. 

Working Conditions: Working conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Environment 50% Office Environment, and 50% engineering lab including cleanroom environment.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: Office equipment, cell phone, desk phone, laptop, printer, copier, scanner, and various lab equipment.

Compensation Information:

This position is offered at an hourly rate of $26.00 to $31.00, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience. In accordance with California law, the posted range reflects the expected compensation for this role. Actual pay within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s background and alignment with the requirements of the position.
