The IFRS Foundation was created in 2001 to develop standards used globally for financial reporting that improve the communication between companies and investors. We are a not-for-profit organisation founded on the belief that better information from companies leads to better investment decisions. Our standards boost transparency, comparability and trust in financial reporting.
IFRS® Accounting Standards and IFRS® Sustainability Disclosure Standards are set by our two independent standard-setting boards, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), using a rigorous, inclusive and transparent due process. More than 140 jurisdictions require use of IFRS Accounting Standards and almost 40 jurisdictions around the world are also starting to use IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, issued in 2023.
The IFRS Foundation Trustees are responsible for organisational strategy, governance and oversight of the IASB and the ISSB, and are accountable to a Monitoring Board of public authorities.
We have offices in Beijing, Frankfurt, London, Montreal, San Francisco and Tokyo.
