Job Summary

Use chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and other sciences to study the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods. Analyze food content to determine levels of vitamins, fat, sugar, and protein; discover new food sources. Research ways to make processed foods safe, palatable, and healthful. Apply food science knowledge to determine best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food.

You are a Flavorist and wish to pioneer undiscovered world for IFF. 

Innovation Re Master Vanilla proposes a dedicated Flavorist opportunity in and around the Vanilla world in a Vanilla Innovation Hub Center located at the origin of this botanical in Madagascar. 

You will become the pioneering Flavorist into the Vanilla World for IFF, exploring and developing all the possibilities at the origin of Vanilla about existing species and hybrids and around Vanilla flavors You will be involved in Innovation programs about, creating & having the wider vanilla portfolio in the world, contribute to sustainable vanilla explorations and climate change anticipation. 

You’ll be working in close relation with the regional C&D communities and Sales about their specific projects initiated 

In parallel and to reinforce your knowledge of Vanilla you’ll be working and discovering the Vanilla beans world through species and varieties to complete, increase your knowledge and apply it for Creation.  

Where You’ll Make a Difference

  • Ensures the complete driving of a flavor creation using locally developed/created ingredients as well as the existing ingredients portfolio in the flavorist panel. 
  • Drive the dynamic of this unit and assure the link with the IC&D regional teams. 
  • Be brought in to contribute to food test protocols as they are developed. 
  • Interacts proactively with teams remotely from your place of activity daily. 
  • Considers international standards as well as internal criteria of the company to be in full alignment with our colleagues and correspondents on other sites located abroad. 
  • Works with senior staff in the creation of flavors.  
  • Develops creative skills and knowledge through evaluation of prototypes, ingredients and technologies in flavors.  
  • Works closely with Creation and Sales teams to learn to modify, duplicate and create successful flavors.
  • Responds to internal and external customer briefs 

What Makes You the Right Fit

  • You have completed a Flavorist course and obtained a diploma to exercise your talents using your personal history, culture and technical knowledge in the field of human food and flavors. 
  • You have a creative and innovative profile regarding the use of crude and aromatic ingredients in all areas related to the culinary preparation of food, namely dairy products, chocolate products, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), pastry, etc.Good understanding of plant, milk-fermented drink, dry blended beverage, nutritional benefits in protein beverages and agglomerations would be highly regarded  
  • Good knowledge of food ingredients, including: 
  • Raw material knowledge, especially hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, protein, flavors, etc. 
  • Product development (incl. Formulation) 
  • Understanding of commercial factors that affect product cost and selling price  
  • English language mastered in everyday life and in all communications 
  • Development and follow-up of laboratory-scale protocols  
  • Good networking with different players of 5D process and Regional Ambassadors  
  • Good interface & point of contact between Regional Ambassadors and 5D process 
  • Good familiarity with Microsoft suite apart from Application related IT System or Application.
