JOB SUMMARY: Provides clinical education and evaluation to nursing and patient care staff. Facilitates evidenced-based education within the Med Surg unit. Collaborates with manager, supervisor, administration, and providers to incorporate clinical processes into the plan of care for patients. Performs direct nursing services to patients as required, ensuring adherence to professional standards and IFCH policies, procedures, and guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Able to effectively perform the duties of a staff medical surgical registered nurse.
2. Demonstrate expertise in the teaching/learning process to improve clinical practice and system processes.
3. Assume direct responsibility for orientation of new clinical personnel, can create and conduct educational skills labs/teaching sessions.
4. Provide ongoing, focused, and remedial training and education to staff, both in the classroom and bedside environments.
5. Plan and conduct orientation programs for all levels of clinical personnel to their certification level.
6. Assess educational needs within the clinical departments, develop plans to meet these needs, and assume direct teaching responsibility for all levels of clinical personnel, as directed by manager.
7. Collaborate with team members and the administration team to plan a yearly calendar of programs including annual competencies and assists in its execution.
8. Assist all department managers in meeting the educational needs of their employees.
9. Serve on assigned committees as directed by manager.
10. Maintain appropriate records of clinical personnel’s licensures and certifications; monitor expiration dates and assists with relicensing and recertification and assign education as needed.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.
QualificationsEducation/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho. Current BLS. ACLS, PALS, and Basic Dysrhythmia within 6 months of hire. Required chemotherapy certification within 1 year of hire.
Experience: Preferred 1 year Med Surg nursing experience and/or previous preceptor or education experience.
