The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from ($130,000 -$168,00) in New York and ($143,000 -$185,000) in Connecticut.

The Senior Manager – Operational performance is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing business strategies related to operational performance, data analytics and reliability improvement.
  • The accurate analysis and reporting of all AVANGRID OpCo reliability performance – including both internal, external and regulatory reports.
  • Defining (and supporting of execution where appropriate) short- and medium-term actions to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Justification and prioritization of capex and opex projects in relation to network operations.
  • Managing & developing a team of data scientists, engineers and project managers – including both internal staff and external contractors.
  • Management of projects directly under the scope of the Operational Performance group (data infrastructure, analytics, data collection, etc).
  • Represent Avangrid in regulatory hearings and on external boards/working groups as necessitated by the role.
  • The position will be expected to work with senior business leaders including business area VPs, and equivalent colleagues in the global Iberdrola Networks team, on a regular basis.
  • In addition, the role will liaise with regulatory bodies and other high profile external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads initiatives to gather, manipulate, analyze, and provide reporting of reliability data.
  • Works with large and often times incomplete data sets. Develop variations of analytical and reporting approaches to best communicate reliability information as well as enhance ability to utilize data in the application of reliability strategies.
  • Leads initiatives to improve operational performance across Avangrid
  • Supports reliability improvement analysis including work with defective equipment, outage database data, and circuit performance data.
  • Analyzes reliability data and plans programs consistent with best practices to provide guidance to expenditure planning and prioritization. Risks will also be considered in the analysis.
  • May recommend and develop programs and strategies including reliability improvement recommendations.
  • Using best practices, applies data management approaches within regulatory, legal, and other specified parameters that optimize the use of data in accordance with the reliability policy.
  • Interacts with subject matter experts to make sure data practices are effective, data is properly gathered and analyzed, applications are structured for optimum effectiveness, and risks are appropriately considered and managed.
  • Effectively communicates reliability performance plans and the strategies and policies that guided the creation of the plans to internal stakeholders. May be required to also present and advocate for the plans externally.
  • Mentors and trains junior members of the reliability reporting organization. · Drives creative solutions and communicate/suggest best practices to management and colleagues.
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation and procedures. · Participates in global and local projects.
  • Responsible for direct operational budget approx. $2m; Projects >$1m · Prioritization and optimization of capex portfolio > $1bn

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 8-10 + years relevant business experience.
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams in a · regulated business environment.
  • Experience in large database construction, manipulation, and data · extraction.
  • Understanding of power system asset management principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of the company’s electric restoration procedures, field operating procedures, regulatory environment and applicable regulation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science or equivalent technical discipline.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of energy delivery system design and operation.
  • Direct involvement in rate-case proceedings or similar regulatory processes.
  • GIS data set experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload for self and team.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be a proven team player, willing to promote and consolidate efficient team working relationships.

  • Ability to travel to other work locations (typically 1-2 times per month)

  • Advanced Degree or related professional qualification.
