Team Description:
Strategic Planning is a newly established department within the Integrated System Planning Directorate, playing a critical role in shaping CMP’s long-term vision. Built on a foundation of engineering expertise, the department collaborates closely with Transmission Planning, Distribution Planning, Asset Management, and Stakeholder Engagement to drive key initiatives across several focus areas:
Technology, Commercial, and Regulatory Strategy: Evaluating emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory developments to guide strategic decision-making.
Engineering Appraisal of Policy and Regulation: Analyzing the technical impacts of evolving policies and regulations to ensure alignment with system capabilities and resilience goals.
Innovation and New Technologies: Identifying and integrating innovative solutions to improve grid performance, reliability, and sustainability.
Network Resilience: Planning for system robustness in the face of extreme weather events, including wildfires and other climate-related challenges.
Federal Funding Opportunities: Seeking and securing federal grants and funding to support infrastructure planning and development.
Strategic Planning serves as a vital bridge between engineering, policy, and innovation—ensuring CMP remains forward-looking, adaptable, and resilient in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

Literature Review & Research Support
Assist in reviewing and summarizing industry literature and materials related to regulation, commercial and contracting arrangements, and technological advancements.
Regulatory Data Coordination
Collect, organize, and maintain documentation in response to regulatory data requests, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support the coordination of internal and external stakeholder interactions, including scheduling meetings, preparing briefing materials, and documenting key outcomes.
Technical Training & Network Modelling
Receive training in professional modelling tools such as PSS®E and/or CYME, and contribute to network modelling activities under supervision.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering/Engineering/Math/Technology/Law
Less than 2 years of work experience
Rotations:
Rotation 1 - 9 Months - Strategic Planning
Rotation 2 - 9 Months - Integrated Network Planning
Rotation 3 - 6 Months - Strategic Planning
