About this role

Cybersecurity Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is a high-potential, entry-level Cybersecurity Engineer to join our lean and agile IT & Cybersecurity team. Because our team is small, you won’t be siloed into a single narrow function. Instead, you will gain hands-on experience across the entire security spectrum, from enterprise infrastructure protection to Vehicle Cybersecurity Incident Response.

We aren't just looking for someone who knows how to use security tools; we want a true computer enthusiast. If you have a deep curiosity for how computers work at a fundamental level and want to build a career solving complex security challenges in the automotive industry, this is the place for you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • End-to-End Security Operations: Assist in managing and optimizing firewalls, EDR, and IDS/IPS across our enterprise environment.
  • Incident Response: Support detection, analysis, and containment of security threats, including specialized participation in Vehicle Cybersecurity incidents.
  • Vulnerability Management: Perform regular scans, assess risks, and work cross-functionally to implement remediation strategies.
  • Global Collaboration: Coordinate with headquarters in Korea and collaborate with various HATCI locations to align security standards.
  • System Hardening: Apply your knowledge of OS and networking to harden systems and improve our overall security posture.
  • ISMS Management & Compliance: Play a key role in achieving and maintaining ISO 27001 certification. You will help manage the Information Security Management System (ISMS) framework, conduct internal audits, and ensure all security controls meet international standards.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Strong CS Fundamentals: A deep understanding of Operating Systems (Linux/Windows), Networking (TCP/IP stack), and System Architecture.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive "builder" mentality - someone who loves to take things apart to understand how they work.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively within a small, tight-knit team and communicate technical risks to diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel to various HATCI locations and potentially internationally to collaborate with global partners.
  • Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • HATCI is an Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled and Veteran. VEVRRA Federal contractor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scripting/Coding: Proficiency in Python, Bash, Go, or C/C++ for automation and tool development.
  • Hands-on Projects: Experience with CTFs, home-lab environments, or contributing to open-source projects.
  • Interest in Automotive: A passion for vehicle electronics, CAN bus, or embedded systems security.

WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU

  • Zero-dollar employee premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for you and your family
  • 100% employer-paid disability and life insurance
  • Generous paid time off including vacation, sick and abundant holidays
  • A global environment that fosters diversity
  • Competitive salaries
  • Retirement savings and planning benefits
  • Access to health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts

Why Join HATCI IT & Cybersecurity?

  • Unmatched Variety: You will get more diverse experience here - from high-level compliance (ISO 27001) to deep-dive technical incident response - than most entry-level roles offer.
  • Global Exposure: Work at the intersection of American innovation and world-class Korean engineering.
  • Impact: As a small team, your contributions are visible and impactful from day one. You will have the autonomy to own your projects while being mentored by experienced leads. You will get more diverse experience here in one year than most entry-level engineers get in three.
