POSITION: Maintenance Technician 1
REPORTS TO: Maintenance: Maintenance Supervisor
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician 1 performs machine repairs, fabrication projects, and preventive / predictive maintenance activities. The Maintenance Technician 1 performs preventive maintenance work as assigned and scheduled by the CMMS. The Maintenance Technician 1 responds to machine repair calls and projects as assigned or directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
The employee must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with maintenance staff and personnel from other company departments. Attention to detail, accuracy, completion of scheduled tasks. The employee must have a good mechanical aptitude, and be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision. Employee must understand the role and function of the maintenance organization in a manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or minimum two (2) years of equivalent experience.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math and problem-solving skills required for measurements, fabrication, and completion of paperwork and reporting.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Employee must be able to navigate and input data into CMMS.
REASONING ABILITY:
The employee must have the ability to define problems, draw valid conclusions, and determine a proper course of action. The employee must be able to troubleshoot systems and breakdowns by simplifying problems, process of elimination, and recognized problem-solving techniques. The employee must be able to implement necessary solutions under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Hilo (fork truck) operator’s license. Scissor lift operator’s license. First Responder and blood born pathogen certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; walk; bend; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; and regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, to climb, and to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee will work predominately in a maintenance shop and a manufacturing environment where the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be required including safety glasses, steel toed shoes with metatarsal guards, and hearing protection. The employee may also be required to use a face shield, protective gloves and sleeves, fall protection harness, and hardhat depending upon assigned work tasks.
