About this role

We have an opportunity for an experienced sterile processing professional to join our team as the Sterile Processing Supervisor on the night shift (11:00pm to 7:30am).  The Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees and participates in the daily shift production and work flow in the sterile processing department within Surgical Services. This includes:

  • incorporating the STEEP principles to coordinate all aspects of the production schedule
  • participating in the development, implementation and administration of policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and coordinates and maintains all sterilization records
  • assisting in setting standards of quality for the preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment
  • reviewing and evaluating the flow of work throughout the department and identifying areas to improve overall efficiencies
  • working with the Operating Room staff and the Sterile Processing staff to facilitate necessary revision to sets and recipes
  • assisting in the development of procedures for new sets and new equipment
  • performing routine quality audits of instrument sets and equipment under the direction of the sterile processing manager

The Sterile Processing Supervisor is also responsible for interviewing and training qualified staff, coordinating staff assignments, handling performance management issues and employee complaints/concerns and ensuring appropriate communication with staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of instrument assembly / sterile processing experience
    • Completion of a surgical tech program may substitute for one (1) year of sterile processing experience
    • IAHCSMM certification as a Central Service Technician or obtained within 6 months of hire. Certification must be kept current.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with an instrument tracking system
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited to-year college or technical school preferred
