The Role

Designs and implements development training programs to enhance the effectiveness of managers and teams to increase organization productivity and customer satisfaction. Assesses critical business issues and designs organization development and strategic plans to enhance company performance. Facilitates design and implementation of reengineering and/or reorganization efforts. Advises on team design and performance. Provides development, coaching and training managers on leadership skills.

Primary Duties:

  • Creating leadership development content, programs, and resources to ensure the right leadership capabilities to support the business
  • Ensuring alignment of leadership development programs and content to success profiles for roles
  • Staffing and delivery of development programs and resources
  • Collaborating with business leaders to ensure program content and delivery are aligned to customer needs
  • Assessing the effectiveness of programs and resources
  • Development and engagement of employees within AOR
  • Performance as determined by appropriate leading and lagging indicators specific to effectiveness of leadership development programs
  • Adherence to standards for worksite safety and cleanliness
  • Identification and management of risks within AOR directly or through intervention/support from supervisor
 
The Manager of Org Development must provide:
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex/diverse groups both with direct leadership responsibility and dotted line leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience in design, implemenation, and sustainment of development programs (specifically leadership development)
  • Ability to collaborate and navigate the political landscape
  • Demostrated Executive-level Communication
  • Ability to communicate a strategic vision and translate to tactical actions 
 

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience


One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate 
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience 
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of shipbuilding divisions, processes value stream, and employment/leasing process
  • In-tune with Company Business Objectives and understands how adult education, competencies, and learning connects with those objectives
  • Aware of Industry benchmarks, initiatives, and best practices
  • Earned Value Management
  • Financial Management
  • Experience in generating and reporting statistical data
