Our Laboratory Services Department uses state of the art equipment, technology and processes to collect and test clinical specimens in order to obtain information about the health of our patients so that our inter-professional teams can diagnose, treat and prevent disease. 

 

Our Medical Laboratory Technologists assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease by performing tests on tissue, blood and other body fluids.

Employment Status: Temporary Full TimeDuration: July 2026 - subject to change as per Article HRH 2 – Management RightsHours of Work: Available to work Monday – Friday day shifts (e.g. 6 am-2 pm, 7 am- 3pm and/or 8 am- 4 pm), may also include rotating shifts, including weekends and commitment of hours as per collective agreement - subject to change as per operational needs & Article HRH 2 – Management Rights

Location:  Humber River Health, Wilson Site - subject to change as per Article HRH 2 – Management RightsLabour Group: OPSEU 577Reporting Relationship:  Manager, Laboratory ServicesHourly Rate: $36.84 - 50.24

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Routine Histology to include specimen grossing, microtomy, special stains, Immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, specimen bookings and attending needle biopsies, and other rotating duties as needed.
  • Instrument maintenance and quality control.
  • Possible Cytology specimen preparation.
  • Can be assigned /trained in other Laboratory Disciplines

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Current registration as General Medical Laboratory Technologist or Histology/Cytology specialty with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Successful passing of Clinical Skill Tests required 
  • 3-5 years of recent Clinical Pathology experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively alone or with all team members, including co-workers, physicians and other health care team members.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
