Salary: FT Support Payband H (Start $37.34 – Max $43.18) 
 
About the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at Humber:
The Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology (FAST) at Humber College offers a dynamic and innovative learning environment, combining academic theory with hands-on practice in fields such as cybersecurity, engineering, embedded systems, and skilled trades. About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Co-op & Work Placement Services, the Placement Advisor is the key conduit for contributing to the strategic plan to foster career-ready citizens. The Placement Advisor is responsible for providing essential support and services to all students in programs with Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) embedded in the curriculum throughout the Faculty; they are also responsible for supporting the Global Polytechnic mission of the institution through the development and ongoing nurturing of industry partnerships that are integral to the delivery of WIL which could lead to other strategic partnerships such as applied research.

The incumbent assists and prepares students for their placements through the facilitation of work preparation workshops, resume feedback, mock interviews and job search coaching. Given a portfolio of programs, this individual will promote programs to industry, develop job postings, refer candidates to prospective employers, track/maintain placement records, report on placement activity, and, monitor students in the workplace. In addition to maintaining relationships with existing employers, the Advisor also conducts research and actively networks to expand the employer base. The incumbent will work as part of a collaborative team approach to placement, and contribute to career and networking events, building/maintaining relationships with employers, associations and other industry partners, and, maintaining a database of contacts.

Education
Undergraduate degree, preferably in Business, IT or Engineering

Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years in one or more of the following areas: Co-op or field placement at the post-secondary level, human resources, staffing/recruitment or employment services supporting job seekers and developing employer relationships in the Information & Communications Technology, and Computer Science sectors.

Skills

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation and planning skills. Able to communicate effectively with a diverse student population and at all levels in an employer organization.
     
  • A goal/results focused individual, with the ability to balance and handle competing priorities in a high-volume placement environment, and work with minimal supervision.
     
  • Other qualifications include demonstrated ability to listen, empathize, problem solve, exercise good judgment, work with interruptions, and deal with conflicts.
     
  • Administrative and document tracking skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
     
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Contact Management Systems; Experience with Banner and Blackboard) would be an asset.
