Job Description

what you will accomplish

The Host/Hostess create an experience for our hotel guest by offering them a larger than home experience with welcoming, helpful, and exceptional service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment.  Our Host/Hostess demonstrates attributes of a great Host/Hostess by being aware and attentive to our guest’s needs; in addition, they create conversations and share a moment thereby making a real connection with our guests.

  • Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
  • Responding to individual guest needs as they occur.
  • Greet all guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner upon arrival and seat them at their table while you provide them with a menu and general information about the restaurant and server.
  • Prepare and maintain a list of guests waiting to be seated and communicate with the guest throughout their estimated waiting time.
  • Check-in guests to ensure satisfaction with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages is up to their expectations and thank the guests as they depart and invite them to return at a future date.
  • Offer amenities to guests while they dine. Including but not limited to, activity sheets with crayons, lamps, reading glasses, water service, and/or pashminas.
  • Ensuring chits and distributed to the appropriate server/bartender or sushi counter.
  • Maintaining the host stand and lobby area.
  • Whipping down and returning all electronics to the office for charging. Whipping down menus and replacing menus that have been damaged. 
  • Communicate any allergies or special events the guests are celebrating to the Food and Beverage teams.
  • Respond to and resolve all guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner. Able to communicate to Managers if assistance is needed.
  • Thoroughly completes projects and assignments professionally with care.
  • Answering phone calls and responding to messages through OpenTable and/or phone/voicemails. Call & confirm guest reservations.
  • Understand the Restaurant Menu to assist guests’ questions.
  • Identify when to adjust the pace of seating to ensure proper service.
  • Procedures & execute Forbes Standards as well as Hotel Standard Operating Procedures, & Policies.
  • Report all items in need of repair to supervisor and maintain equipment used in work.
  • Protect guest safety and well-being.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Always conducts him/herself (acts and dresses) professionally; sets standards for all.
  • Expresses ideas and conveys information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Works to resolve disagreements and is respectful of peers and co-workers.
  • Scrupulously follows all Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

what you will bring

  • Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Good mathematical and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately use OpenTable is preferred.
  • Ability to actively listen to others and communicate effectively in loud environments.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position with constant guest interaction.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, standing, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to be a team player.

Hourly Wage: $22.00
