About this role

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated building maintenance services company, is currently accepting resumes for the position of HVAC Mechanic for its Philadelphia PA location.

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, energy management systems, and all associated equipment.

Duties involve: observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of the system’s operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided; recording in logs various aspects of the system’s operation; keeping the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order; Perform routine and preventive maintenance, operate building automation systems and monitor the performance and condition of the water treatment systems; Conduct equipment/system watches and tours and inspect and monitor for proper operation and make equipment/system adjustments and shift equipment as required; Maintain records of maintenance services, repairs, supplies, fuel consumption, etc.; Makes moderate repairs of a mechanical nature; May be assigned other duties as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all repairs and maintenance of all heating/cooling and ventilating components common to the building operations.
  • Performs HVAC tasks at the highest level involving piping systems, motors and controllers, pneumatic systems, chilled water, etc.
  • Maintains air handlers and other mechanical equipment by changing filters, belts, oil, cleaning coils, and drain pans.
  • Operates, installs, repairs and maintains mechanical equipment such as air handlers, exhaust fans, automatic valves, pneumatic and electrical controls, and refrigeration systems, space heating and cooling units.
  • Required to respond to emergencies such as floods, power outages, etc.

May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and changing business practices

Education and Experience required: include the following:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of maintenance experience and an additional two (2) years’ experience in a boiler room, attending boilers and chillers (large commercial facility preferred)
  • Ability to operate building automation systems
  • Possess a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade
  • Refrigeration certification
  • Must provide own basic hand tools and test equipment.
  • Capable of reading blueprints, drawings, layouts.
  • Must be able to read and speak English clearly.
  • Valid driver's license.
