Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all company HSEQ processes and procedures
- Review and comprehend part drawings
- Basic operation of turning and milling equipment (simple/non-critical)
- Operate a 4-Jaw “Independent Chuck”
- Operate Surface Grinder
- Operate Band Saw
- Operate Drill Press
- Polish various valve parts to manufacturer specifications
- “Rough out” in house fabricated parts
- Machine flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications
- Drill & tap holes
- Knowledge of basic measuring tools (calipers, dial indicators, tape measure, thread gauge)
- Introductory learning of various measuring instruments (micrometers, last word indicators, PMI gun, profilometer, thread measurement devices, and veneers)
Positional Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- HS Education or GED Equivalent a plus
- Machinist degree preferred
- Up to 1 year industry experience
- Skills & Abilities
- A clear understanding of machining safety
- Demonstrates proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Proper knowledge to operate rotating equipment
- Basic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC , only if required)
- Basic oral & written communication skills
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals efficiently and vice versa
- Demonstrated “can do” attitude
- Supervision:
- Close Supervision Required
- Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance to company driving guidelines
- Clear background check and drug/alcohol screening
Essential Physical Functions:
- Lifting: up to 50 pounds
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
- Lift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feet
- Bending, stooping, walking and climbing stairs
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

Escarpment Renewables is Miller’s Class 3 wet anaerobic digestion facility in Grimsby, Ontario where we convert organic waste into a CFIA-certified liquid fertilizer for local agricultural partners and renewable heat and electricity for the Ontario power grid.
