Summary:

As an Equipment Supervisor at Miller Waste Systems, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing facility and sorting equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This includes troubleshooting conveyor and baling systems, performing preventative maintenance, supporting asset management, and collaborating with various departments. You’ll also handle general facility repairs, welding, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

In the position of Equipment Supervisor, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Work closely with all departmental teams in a positive supportive manner, placing the highest value on respect for collaborative contribution and the unique expertise that each department’s staff bring to the combined group.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to apprentices and team members along with operations.
  • Ensure equipment operates cost effectively, while maintaining the highest safety standards.
  • Monitoring Downtime daily and intervene to keep to a minimum.
  • Work with your supervisor to provide recommendations on asset life expectancies, replacement schedules and new asset specifications.
  • Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance and associated paperwork meet MOL requirements and Miller Waste criteria.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on conveyor systems & baling equipment with some maintenance and light repairs of heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skidsteers.
  • Preventative maintenance cleaning (Conveyors, Balers, Other sorting equipment).
  • General repairs to facility as required which could include fire suppression system, Over Head doors, loading docks, plumbing, lighting etc.
  • Welding and cutting as required.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis of MRF equipment (mobile and stationary).

 

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates will ideally possess a 433A Millwright License.
  • Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Must be a team leader.
  • Self-motivated individual and be able to work with others.
  • Excellent organization skills and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous Mechanical and equipment experience is required.
  • Must have own tools as required.
  • Function safely around equipment.
  • Must be available to work weekends and overtime as required.
