MK Housekeeping House Attendant


Primary Responsibilities: 

Clean public areas, restrooms, offices, and corridors according to resort standards. Pick-up soiled linens from room attendants and stock carts/closets with supplies and linen. Perform general or specialized cleaning and other miscellaneous unskilled tasks. Move heavy furniture or equipment when needed. Do restaurant cleaning and carpet cleaning. Assist room attendant in servicing rooms, delivering ice and water. Delivering items requested by guests to rooms.

Essential Duties:

  • Clean public areas, restrooms, offices, corridors, restaurants, etc., according to resort standards.
  • Pick-up soiled linen and trash from room attendant’s carts.
  • Clean, organize and stock carts or housekeeping closets with supplies and linen, reports shortages.
  • Perform specialized floor or carpet cleaning following directions on cleaning solutions.
  • Deliver items requested by guests.
  • Move furniture, beds or equipment as instructed.
  • Sweep, dust, mop and remove debris from floors.
  • Clean and polish rails
  • Assist room attendant in servicing and cleaning rooms, delivering ice and water.
  • Report any unauthorized or suspicious person on the guest room floors to security.
  • Responsible for the control of hotel issued keys at all times.
  • Assist in special projects.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties following safety procedures and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  • Assist other positions in the department.
  • Fold linen received from the laundry.
  • Assist guests with directions or information regarding the resort and the Big Island.

Working Conditions:

  • Works indoors in guest rooms with or without air-conditioning.
  • Outdoors cleaning lanais, public areas, and corridors.

Work Hours:

  • Able to work shifts and days determined by Executive Housekeeper or Assistant.
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week as needed.

Equipment Use:

  • Housekeeping cart to transport linen and supplies to room attendants.
  • Vacuum cleaner, buffer, carpet shampooer
  • Cleaning tools which includes, mop, broom, window cleaner, etc.
  • Cart, hand-truck, cardboard bailer, trash compactor

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Able to push/pull cleaning equipment, housekeeping carts weighing more than 50 lbs.
  • Able to kneel, bend, stoop, and reach above/at or below shoulder level to clean, stock, pick up furniture, rugs, equipment, etc.
  • Able to push/pull and lift/carry heavy furniture, rugs, cleaning equipment weighing up to or over 50lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk during entire shift.

Communication Demands:

  • Must be able to communicate on the phone to Housekeeping
  • Must be able to verbally communicate to employees, managers and hotel guests.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Must be able to read and understand work assignment sheets and directions when handling cleaning solutions or chemicals.
