Huhtamaki is looking for a motivated Public Affairs Trainee to strengthen our engagement with key decision-makers in Finland. In this role, you will contribute to our Public Affairs strategy, helping to build trusted relationships and reinforce Huhtamaki’s position as an innovative leader in the packaging industry.

Where you’ll be 

You will be located at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland and you should be within reasonable commuting distance from here. This is a primarily in-office role, with the flexibility of one remote day per week. 

 
What you’ll do 

  • Internal Collaboration 
    Work closely with colleagues across Public Affairs, Commercial, Strategy, Legal and Sustainability teams to ensure alignment between advocacy efforts and business priorities. You’ll also contribute to improving our internal processes and ways of working. 

  • Government & Regulatory Affairs 
    Assist in driving Huhtamaki’s Public Affairs activities in Finland. Success in this role requires very good understanding of Finnish legislative and regulatory processes. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement 
    Help develop and maintain strong relationships with policymakers. Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills are key. 
     

What we’re looking for 

  • A master’s degree student in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field. 

  • Very good understanding of Finland’s political landscape and regulatory environment, with the ability to build strategic networks. 

  • Experience in EU-level advocacy is a plus. 

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify complex regulatory topics into clear messages. 

  • Native Finnish speaker with excellent English skills; additional languages are an advantage. 

  • A strategic thinker who thrives under pressure, builds relationships with ease, and works in a structured, organized manner.

The employment is fixed term, and it will start in May 2026 and last until the end of August 2026.
