R&D Test Technician

Description -

The R&D Test Technician role is a hands-on technical position focused on the assembly, integration, operation, and ongoing support of advanced press systems. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and experimental teams, deep interaction with machine control systems, and active participation in troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.
 

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, commission, and operate new press systems, including hands-on interaction with machine controllers, supporting tools, and software ecosystems.

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive and corrective maintenance, while collecting, analyzing, and documenting operational and experimental data using UI systems, internal lab platforms, and external tools (e.g., Automation Studio).

  • Own quality, documentation, and traceability aspects by accurately documenting faults, processes, and test results in organizational systems, extracting lessons learned, and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, primarily experimental teams and mechanical engineers, and provide technical support to global teams and customers as required.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and proactively contribute to improvements in work processes, maintenance practices, and testing methodologies.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory procedures, and maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory working environment.

  • Work in a shift-based model (morning and evening shifts).
     

Requirements

  • Practical Engineering diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with complex technical systems in industrial, R&D, production, or military environments.

  • Strong hands-on technical skills, including system integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Proven ability to independently diagnose issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.

  • Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments with changing priorities.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive, self-driven mindset with strong learning capabilities and creative problem-solving approach.

  • Experience with automated testing systems or tools – advantage.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for system related activities (low frequency)


The position is defined for a two-year period with an option for extension
