Howden are delighted to have a vacancy as a Claims Manager where a key part of this role will be people management, including managing the reporting lines of the wider claims team members, ensuring all team members have objectives that are aligned to the wider Howden Ireland ambition, managing staff performance against these agreed objectives,  and optimising the culture within this claims team.

About the Role:

As the Manager at Howden, you will also be responsible for driving process improvement within the team, building out a management information suite to be used to drive decision making, and building robust relationships with internal trading teams as well as insurers. They will also be tasked with expanding the remit of the claims team to support other trading teams across the Howden Ireland business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of claims executives and provide guidance and support as needed.

  • Reporting line manager for the Claims team members

  • Performance management of claims team

  • Hiring and building out the team to meet business ambitions.

  • Team member training / support / coaching / mentoring.

  • Optimising the culture within the claims team

  • Drive process improvement

  • Build a suite of management information to support claims decision making

  • Build robust working relationships with key insurers

  • Build robust working relationships with internal trading teams. Use their feedback to improve claims team performance.

  • Expand the remit of the claims team to support other trading teams across the Howden Ireland business.

  • Support the trading team with client engagement as required.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and the quality of the claims handling processing.

  • Communicate with clients, stakeholders and other departments to manage claims effectively.

About You:

  • 5+ years relevant experience within the insurance industry, working in a claims environment and ideally at a Team Lead or Manager level

  • Minimum CIP qualification in insurance

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively manage teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Skilled in providing guidance and support for professional growth, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

  • Maintains a high level of integrity and upholds strong ethical principles in all professional interactions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining client trust and satisfaction.

  • Embraces creative problem-solving, works collaboratively across functions, and consistently delivers results.
