Under general supervision, a Special Education Parent Liaison assists parents of students with disabilities and community stakeholders in resolving concerns related to special education services and provides support for general inquiries.
1. Support district and campus staff to help address concerns and inquiries related to special education services.
2. Collaborate with campuses and special education team members to coordinate and communicate a resolution to parents’ concerns and questions.
3. Serve as a liaison to connect parents to resources for special education related information.
4. Foster communication between parents and the district to improve family engagement.
5. Uphold behavior that is professional, ethical and supportive.
6. Demonstrate effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
7. Maintains a database for the department on special education parent tickets for the district.
8. Create periodic (weekly, monthly, and annual reports) on parent tickets for administrative review and reporting.
9. Assist in the coordination of parent engagement projects and initiatives.
10. Attend district and community events.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree
3 to 5 years
Bilingual preferred

No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.
Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.
No budget development activity is required.
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.
Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions, and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor, and coworkers in own and other departments.
Follows through with customer inquiries, requests, and complaints. Forwards difficult and non-routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
