Position Summary:
The Housekeeping member will arrive on time for their shift and start prepping the boats for a day on the water. Scrubbing decks, cleaning windows, polishing brass are typically the start of the day, a quick and effective cleaning of the interior of the boats after a cruise to prepare it for the evening cruise is part of the afternoon tasks. Knowing how to clean and enjoying this type of work is an essential quality of housekeeping members. Working safely with cleaning products and at the waters edges is very important, too.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Keeps the vessels in cruise-ready condition
• Maintain the cleanliness of the washrooms at all time
• Vacuum and sweep floors, carpets and rugs
• Clean, disinfect and store all cleaning equipment at the end of their shift
• Keep the cleaning chemicals & cleaning tools station well-organized all the time
• Ensure all the cleaning chemicals are properly mixed and labelled
• Identify, assess, and address areas that need extra attention
• Ability to work alone or with others to complete a list of cleaning tasks
• Lift and move equipment and furniture from one vessel to another as directed
• Collect & dispose of garbage from kitchen, common area, and recycling to the appropriate receptacles
• Maintain a health and safety focused approach while working onboard
• Assist the Food & Beverage team at setting floorplans, table settings and buffet station as needed
• Assist kitchen staff as needed
• Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time
• Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards
• Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty
• O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience
• Previous cleaning experience preferred
• Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential
• Ability to deal with shifting priorities
• Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
• Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others
• Will work for extended periods of time without sitting
• Required to lift furniture and other heavy items up and down stairs
