Position Summary:

The Boat Painter is responsible for all paint work and various other staining, sanding and general maintenance/repairs aboard City Experiences San Francisco Vessels. The ideal candidate must be able and comfortable with working over the side of a vessel in a harness or from a floating platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and clean up at the job sites, prepare all surfaces for painting, prime where needed and paint surfaces with quality paint to ensure a uniform finish, and inspect completed work for the highest quality
  • Maintain clean and organized work area, communicate clearly, maintain strict attention to detail, follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Understand and execute work orders in the agreed upon timeframe. Provide accurate job status updates daily
  • Tape or otherwise protect surrounding surfaces such as decks, hardware, windows during work process
  • Cleans, sands, and smooth surfaces, using appropriate tools, such as scrapers, sandpaper, steel wool, or chemicals
  • May perform small repairs to surfaces to be painted using appropriate materials and tools
  • Applies coats of paint, stain, enamel, or lacquer, as appropriate, to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of boats
  • Sets up and dismantles staging following OSHA staging guidelines
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area
  • Proficient with basic electrical tasks i.e., changing lamps and ballasts, replacing receptacles and switches, and resetting breakers
  • Proficient with basic plumbing tasks i.e., freeing stopped up sinks, toilets, and urinals, repairing small leaks, replacing worn parts such as washers, seals, gaskets, vacuum breakers, etc.
  • Proficient with carpentry and general building maintenance and repair tasks-replacing locksets, adjusting doors, caulking, painting, sheet rock and other interior finish repair, and flooring repair
  • Additional job duties as assigned.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • One plus years experience as a commercial/marine painter
  • One plus  years experience as a general laborer
  • Knowledge and experience working with basic hand and power tools including, but not limited to sandpapers, paintbrushes, cleaning agents, tapes, grinders, surface sanders, DA and block sanders, polishers.
  • Experience working on construction sites.
  • Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures
  • Ability to travel to different job sites
