QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN – PLANTERS (BEDMINSTER, NJ)

Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance responsible for the day-to-day FSQA activities at the Bedminster Office and support Distribution Center activities when needed.
Essential Functions:
Verify product quality and specifications in the R&D kitchen and office environment, and conduct product checks at the Distribution Center as needed. Ensure all kitchen and sampling equipment is used in a safe and sanitary manner.
Manage Certificates of Analysis (COAs) per production lot and verify product on hold at DCs to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.
Support cross-functional initiatives, including preparing product displays, collaborating with teams, and presenting findings to cross functional team members including senior leadership.
Assist in managing consumer and customer complaints, including documentation, investigation, and resolution support.
Participate in FSQA programs, including mock recalls, traceability exercises, and continuous improvement projects.
Assist with raw material sampling and testing when needed to support FSQA verification and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for inspections, verifications, and complaint investigations using FSQA systems and tools.
Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies to enhance FSQA processes and support team goals.
As needed, train new and existing team members on written programs and/or new systems.
Work on other projects and initiatives as needed under the direction of the FSQA Director.
Position Requirements:
BS preferably in Culinary, Food Science, Meat Science, Nutrition, or equivalent related work experience
Prior work experience with food, quality assurance or data entry preferred
Ability to evaluate meat products (beef, pork, chicken, and turkey) for sensory attributes such as aroma, flavor, texture, and appearance.
Willingness to take direction and follow established procedures closely.
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks.
History of adhering to deadlines.
Basic computer skills required, including familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint).
Preferred but not required: experience with Lotus Notes, TraceGains, Tableau, or ASANA.
Working Conditions:
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in warehouse environments with temperatures ranging from 0°F to 40°F.
Travel required up to 20%, which may include overnight stays as needed.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $21.50-$30.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
