JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary

Overall functions; collecting samples for upper management, working The Cutting, reading dataloggers, working in rooms to cover breaks/lunches/absentees, approving operational and organizing and signing paperwork under the supervision and direction of the FSQ Supervisor. Furthermore, the lead is expected to lead the QAs with a professional and respectful attitude in absence of the supervisor including making sure the rooms and breaks/lunches are covered and dealing with USDA. The FSQ Technician steps in for the FSQ Supervisor if the Supervisor is absent or otherwise unavailable. 

 

Essential Functions

  1. Collects samples from required areas of the plant and transfers samples to the laboratory

  2. Verifies internal temperature of products

  3. Performs pre-operational evaluations on production rooms and machinery

  4. Performs audits of incoming raw product and outgoing finished product

  5. Performs swabs as necessary for investigations, positives, construction, allergen, pre-op, or audits. 

  6. Monitors production personnel to ensure employee hygiene practices are followed correctly

  7. Verifies the calibration of production instruments (i.e. metal detector, scales)

  8. Maintains inventory in QA lab(swabs, thermometers, dataloggers, daily utensils, etc.,)

  9. Maintains proper documentation of audits and evaluations

  10. Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time, will work the required shift for the QA Dept.

  11. Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to:  use of a hair net, use of gloves, use of a company approved frock and rubber boots, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise FSQ Auditor in the room to ensure that all GMPs and policies are being followed. Position may require the lead to delegate tasks to FSQ Auditors or move them between departments to fill in open positions or cover breaks. The FSQ Technician will stand in as FSQ supervisor if the FSQ supervisor is absent.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperatures (under 40 degrees and/or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit).  The floors in the environment are often wet and can be slippery.  The employee regularly works nearing moving mechanical parts.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. 

The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required

The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  40+ hours per week.

Hours of work: Typically, Monday through Friday.  Start and finish times vary depending on assigned department and workload. Weekends and overtime hours are often required.  Schedule is subject to change with or without advanced notice.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Proficient with basic computer skills

  2. Able to read/write English

  3. 1 year experience with QA department

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or GED.

  2. Previous quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

      Previous experience as a QA, preferably for at least one year with knowledge of multiple rooms, and exceptional leadership capability. 

 

Work Authorization

Proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
