The GREAT Smart Cities Institute (GSCI) is seeking a high‑calibre manager to join the team. Reporting directly to the Director of GSCI, the manager will play a crucial role in leading the Institute’s operations and development, while actively engaging with academic partners and external stakeholders, including industry and government, to drive impactful collaborations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee budget management, personnel appointments, committee meetings, and all forms of annual reporting. Serve as head of administration, mentoring staff and ensuring effective delegation and execution of tasks.
  • Partner closely with the research cluster leads and their delegates to support project management and amplify the visibility and impact of research outcomes within the broader community.
  • Act as the Institute’s primary point of contact, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders—including faculty, research units, and operational offices—as well as external partners in industry and government to advance collaborative initiatives.
  • In addition to routine reporting, collaborate with the Director to design and implement major initiatives and long‑term strategies that contribute to the Institute’s sustained growth and future advancement.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant postqualification experience in project management and/or the education sector, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity. The ideal candidate should be both a people leader and collaborative team player, proactive and thorough in approach, and demonstrate strong leadership and management capabilities. Integrity, creativity in problemsolving, and excellence in interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese is required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
