The Office of the Dean of Science is inviting applications from experienced candidates for the position of Human Resources Manager (Strategic Initiatives). Working in a dynamic, fast paced and multi-tasking environment, the highly motivated appointee will play a key role in delivering comprehensive Human Resources (HR) services to support major initiatives in the biomedical area for the long-term strategic development of the University, with key responsibilities including but not limited to the following areas:
- Support the School’s leadership in planning, implementing, and delivering effective HR strategies, policies, and services, dovetailed with the University’s mission and objectives.
- Assist in the compilation of new in-house HR policies and procedures tailored to the School, in alignment with the University’s general guidelines.
- Manage the full scope of HR functions in the School for a diverse workforce (Academic and Non-Academic) in compliance with the University and School’s policies, including (a) all aspects of staff recruitment, talent acquisition, and onboarding processes; (b) compensation and benefits administration; (c) staff performance management; (d) staff relations and engagement activities; and (e) staff training and development programs.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify workforce needs, develop strategies for talent retention and engagement, and initiatives to foster a positive work environment and organisational culture.
- Analyse HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and improve HR processes, stay updated on latest HR trends and best practices, as well as changes in employment legislation, to ensure compliance and enhance HR practices.
- Provide administrative and executive support to relevant School committees and meetings related to HR matters.
- Maintain internal filing and record-keeping systems to ensure accurate documentation and easy retrieval of information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree, with a higher relevant master’s degree preferred.
- At least 5-8 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in HR, ideally in a sizeable organisation / tertiary institution.
- Good knowledge of Hong Kong employment laws and HR best practices in academia.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and individuals, motivate others, and influence outcomes.
- Strong organising and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently, pay attention to detail, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer applications and IT skills.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
