About the Role

HKUST is seeking an innovative and strategic Assistant Program Manager (AI) to join a team of AI developers to drive the development and implementation of AI-driven initiatives within administrative offices. This newly created role will focus on leveraging artificial intelligence, in particular AI agents to enhance operational efficiency, improve user experience, and support digital transformation across different administrative processes.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Implementation:

• Design and execute AI programs aligned with HKUST’s administrative objectives.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI solutions to streamline workflows and improve service delivery.

AI Agent Development:

• Deploy and manage AI-powered virtual assistants to provide real-time responses to user inquiries on administrative procedures (e.g., finance & procurement processes) based on established guidelines and policies.
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and user-friendliness of AI-driven interactions.

Collaboration & Governance:

• Work closely with administrative offices to understand business requirements and translate them into AI solutions.
• Establish governance frameworks for responsible AI usage, including data privacy and ethical considerations.

Continuous Improvement:

• Monitor AI system performance and user feedback to drive enhancements.
• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and best practices for higher education administration processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, AI/ML, or related field with at least 5 years of working experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in AI solution development (e.g, Large Language Model (LLM), GenAI technology like OpenAI API, ChatGPT, GPT-4, Gemini, Langchain, N8N, MCP, HuggingFace Transfromer, PyTorch and similar tools), AI related project management, and/or digital transformation.
• Strong understanding of AI technologies (e.g., NLP, machine learning, GenAI tools, conversational agents).
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, good analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with administrative processes in higher education is an advantage.

Location: Clear Water Bay Campus / HKUST Kwun Tong Office

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
